n' other fun Stuff...
MATERIALS USED FOR ALL ITEMS:
1 skein of Opal Mosaic #1112 (A) Blue
1 skein of Opal Mosaic #1115 (B) Red
Size 10-1/2 straight needles - Size 4 dpns
OPTIONAL: Assorted matching beads or fun little do-dads to add.
GAUGE FOR SCARF:
Totally not important...but thought ya might like to know the gauge I got just in case. I got 5 stitches per inch.
SIZE: 4" wide x 40" long. Length does not include fringe.
DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY: Waaaay Easier then fallin off a log. ;-)
BEGIN FIRST HALF OF SCARF:
With (A) and larger needles, cast on 4 sts, leaving a 12" tail. Turn.
Next 4 Rows: Knit those 4 stitches
BEGIN INCREASE: Increase row: Inc 1 st at beg and end of row.
Next 3 Rows: Knit all stitches
Continue to work an Increase row , then 3 knit rows till there are 16 stitches. Continue knitting those 16 stitches on all rows until scarf measures 22" (or desired length for first half of scarf)
BEGIN SECOND HALF OF SCARF: Cut (A) add (B) and continue to knit the 16 sts on all rows until your scarf is approximately 6 inches from the end of the first half of your scarf.
Next Row: Decrease Row: K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog, turn.
Next 3 Rows: Knit all stitches across.
Continue to work a decrease row, then 3 knit rows until 4 stitches remain on needle. Knit 4 more rows of 4 stitches. Bind off, leaving a 12 inch tail..
ADD FRINGE: With coordinating color yarn, cut 9 strips of yarn 12" long. fold in half and with another strip of yarn, tie securely to end of scarf. Then tie a loose knot in the end of the end. Whew!! That was a mouthful. Include the cast on and the bind off tails into the fringe.
SPIFFY JIFFY CUFFS...
NOTE: If you're gonna add beads or do-dads to your cuffs, remember to string them onto the yarn BEFORE you begin your cuff.
GAUGE: Here again, I don't think gauge is all that important, but just in case it is, I got 5 stitches per inch with the cuff NOT stretched out. And 3 stitches per inch with it stretched out. Also, stretched out, the cuff was 6" wide.
BEGIN FIRST CUFF: (Work both cuffs same)
With dpns and color of choice, cast on the amount of stitches you normally cast on for your socks. I cast on 56 stitches. Keep in mind that knitting on the larger size needles causes the cuff to be waaaay more loose than normal, but that's what you want because you'll be wearing them over another sock cuff. Work a K2, P2 ribbing for 2" (or desired length)
FINISH CUFF: Bind off cuff in pattern. That is...bind off in the K2, P2 stitches. Add your beads or do-dads as you bind off. I added mine every first knit stitch of the ribbing. Knit second cuff in the other color yarn. Or.... knit em both the same color if you like. Just have fun!!
COPYRIGHT BLURB: I'm not gonna claim any copyrights here. I mean....there must be a zillion or a bazillion patterns out there with the same scarf and cuff instructions. After all, they're so basic. But I can say with all honesty that I did knit these items with me own hands, n' I truly did think up the idea for em with me own burnt out brain cells. Soxie ;-)
Every effort was made to insure accuracy of these instructions. If, however, an error is found, please bring it to my attention.
