GAUGE: 5 stitches = 1 inch.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make certain to measure your foot before casting on. You must
have enough stitches to allow for the two-color stranding, which does not have the
stretchiness you need to get the sock over your foot. I knit mine loose enough to
fit over my heel. This causes the cuff-leg area to slouch a bit, and that's the look
and feel I love.

MATERIALS:
YARNS:Brown Sheep, Lambs Pride Superwash. One skein each; Color (A) #SW27 Mysterious Fuchis. (B) A#SW44 Nebraska Sunset. (C) #SW43 Romantic Ruby. (D) A#SW05 Ebony.
NEEDLES: Set of four Size 5 double point ndls. One pair Size 5 circular ndls - 11" length.
Crochet Hook Size "K"
Stitch Holder. 3 Markers.
8 buttons of choice.
12 Beads assorted colors .
From back of heel to end of toe, foot measures 8-1/2"
With (A), cast on 40 sts [or enough in increments of 2 so the sock fits over your foot]. Join yarn (do not twist) Place #1 Marker; knit 10 rounds.
RND 11: Purl complete round. Tie off yarn.
RND 12: Join (D), k2, join (B), k2. Follow Chart A
for 9 rnds. Tie off yarn.
RND 21: Join (A), Knit.
RND: 22: Purl.
RNDS 23-29: Knit.
RND 30: Purl. Tie off yarn.
RND 31-39: Join (C), Knit.
RND 40: Purl. Tie off.
Put the 10 sts before #1 Marker and the 10 sts after Marker onto an empty dpn. (20 heel sts).
Put remaining 20 sts on holder. (Instep stitches)
Working with another dpn, join (D) at beg of heel and k2; join (B), k2.
Continue to work heel
rows from Chart B for 12 rows. [for longer heel knit more rows from Chart B]
Break off (D) yarn ONLY.
ROW 1: With (B) sl 1, k14, sl 1, k1, psso, Turn.
ROW 2: sl 1, p10, p2tog, Turn.
ROW 3: sl 1, k10, sl 1, k1, psso, Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 til all sts are worked. Knit one row.
With circular ndls, pickup 12 sts along side of heel flap; knit the 20 unworked (Instep) sts from holder, pickup 12 sts along other side of heel flap; knit the remaining heel sts. Knit around one complete rnd to #1 Marker.
From beg of #1 Marker, k10, Place #2 Marker; k1, sl 1, k1, psso; knit to within 13 sts before
#1 Marker, k 1, k2tog; Place #3 Marker. Knit to #1 Marker. (Decrease round complete).
Continue to work one round even, one round Decrease til 40 sts remain.
NXT RND: From #1 Marker, Knit all stitches to #2 Marker. Purl all sts between #2 Marker
and #3 Marker. Then knit all around to #2 Marker.
NXT RND: Cut (B) and Join (C) and knit 8 rounds.
NXT RND: Knit all the stitches between #1 Marker and #2 Marker. Purl all stitches between
#2 Marker and #3 Marker. Then knit all stitches from #3 Marker around to
#2 Marker.
NXT RND: Cut (C) and Join (A) and knit 6 rnds (or to desired length of foot to toe decrease.
At beg of #2 marker, and with empty dpn, k1, sl 1, k1, passo, k7 (Instep sts).
With a 2nd dpn knit to within 3 stitches of #3 Marker, k2tog, k1.
With a 3rd dpn, k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k17, k2tog, k1. NOTE: there will be twice the amount of stitches on #3 needles as there are on the other two needles.
NXT RND: work even round, decrease round til 12 stitches remain. Place sts from ndls #2
and #3 on one needle. Graft stitches together.
With Crochet Hook and holding 3 strands (B,C,D) yarn tog, leave a 10" tail and beg to chain VERY LOOSELY 20 chains. Tie off, leaving a 10" tail. Weave chain thru top of sock. Add
beads to tie-ends. Sew on buttons evenly spaced around cuff of sock.
