2 skeins Wildefoot [or sock yarn of choice]
Set of 4 Size 0 dpns [or size required for gauge]
Small amount of waste yarn for cast on
GAUGE: 10 sts per inch

NOTES: Original sock is shown with a short row heel and toe; if you wish to work that method instead, I short rowed each until 10 sts remained then worked back up. Pattern that follows features a standard toe and heel.
center dec: insert ndl into next 2 sts as if to k tog, sl to right hand ndl. K1, p2sso tog.
Rnd 1 and all odd: K.
Rnd 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10: K1, yo, k2tog, k1, ssk, yo, k1.
Rnd 12: K2, yo, center dec, yo, k2.
Rnd 14: K1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1.
Rnd 16: K2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk.
CO 70 sts with waste yarn method. K 10 rnds even. Next rnd: Yo, k2tog around.
K 10 rnds even. Remove waste yarn and place open sts on ndls. Work these open sts tog with live sts on ndls: hem complete. K 1 rnd. Begin pattern, and work to desired length. End having worked rnd 1 of pattern.
K 35, turn. Sl 1, p34. Work back and forth on these 35 sts, slipping 1st st of each rw, until heel flap measures 1 1/2-2".
Rw 1: Sl 1, p 22, p2tog, t. Rw 2: Sl 1, k 11, k2tog, t. Rw 3: Sl 1, p 11, p2tog, t. Repeat the last 2 rws until all sts are used (13 sts remain).
P/u and k 17 sts on side of heel flap. Work across gusset in pattern (rnd 2). P/u and k 17 sts on side of heel flap, k 7 heel sts. Work 2 rnds plain (instep in pattern). Next rnd: Ndl 1: K to last 4, k2tog, k2. Ndl 2: Instep in pattern. Ndl 3: K 2, ssk, k to end. Work 1 rnd plain (instep in pattern). Rep these 2 rnds until 70 sts remain. Then work even until 1 1/2-2" short of desired length. K 1 rnd even.
Rnd 1: Ndl 1: K to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Ndl 2: K2, ssk, k to last 4, k2tog, k2. Ndl 3: K2, ssk, k to end. Work 1 rnd even. Repeat these 2 rnds until 54 sts remain. Then work dec rnd only until 14 or 18 sts remain. Weave in all ends.
